Like I’ve said before, summer is hot and humid and icky and gross. Breezy cute tops are one of the only upsides. I really really love how quick and easy knit is to work with but ultimately I prefer the look of woven garments. There’s just something about the way darts help shape the garment.
I was very excited to test the Lily Blouse* from Laela Jeyne Patterns’ new summer collection. The A-line silhouette is perfect for drapey fabric. Both of my shirts are rayon challis from JoAnn’s.
The sleeveless top has a high collar and wide open armscythes. It was extremely comfortable at a splash pad (or as my daughter calls it, ‘the water playground’) one humid 90+* afternoon.
The sleeved versions have a bias-bound neckline. You can buy some from a store or you can make your own.
And check out this exposed zipper detail. I used a regular zipper on my sleeveless top but a lace zipper on my short sleeved version.
