You don’t always need to go to a fabric store to get some fabric you want. You can use RTW (ready to wear) clothes from a store to repurpose into something more comfortable or in your size.
The first thing you need to do is buy some leggings a few sizes too big.
Wash the fabric the way you’d wash other fabric to get rid of any manufacturing and shipping ickiness and then dry it so it will shrink if it’s going to shrink.
Cut the inseams of the legs open and lay the leggings out. Trace the pattern. I used the Bonny Leggings from Made for Mermaids (make sure you check out the facebook group to find out how to get the pattern for free).
Cut the pieces out and sew them together. I had a special helper this time!
Voila! Cute leggings in my daughter’s size!
These spider web leggings had an uncomfortable elastic waistband so I used the Peg Leg pattern from Patterns for Pirates (make sure you check out the facebook group to find out how to get the pattern for free) to turn them better leggings with a yoga style waistband.
